Heads up and hands free texting: Is it safe?

What exactly causes texting and driving to be so dangerous? Is it that the driver has to look away from the road? Maybe not. Many teenagers boast that they can text without even looking at their phones. Is it that it takes the driver's hands from the wheel? So do many other things that don't seem to cause major distraction, from scratching an itch to changing the radio station.

The factors that increase the risk of motorcycling fatalities

According to recent statistics released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 4,976 motorcycle fatalities in 2015. Although considerable, this number accounts for a small percentage of the more than 8.6 million motorcyclists that were on the country's roadways that year.

Pedestrian deaths in North Carolina are on the rise

A recently released report done by the Government Highway Safety Association indicates that pedestrian deaths in 2016 increased by approximately 24% when compared to 2015. According to the study, 96 pedestrian fatalities occurred in North Carolina between January and June of 2016. North Carolina was not the only state with an increase, in fact, pedestrian fatalities increased in 34 states.
