Deaths Related to Vehicle Accidents on the Rise in North Carolina

North Carolina is seeing an unfortunate increase in fatal traffic crashes this year. Fatal traffic crashes are up 19 percent across the state.

A report published by the National Safety Council shows that year-to-date 634 people were killed in traffic collisions through June. This number is a major increase from the 531 deaths that we saw during the same time period in 2014.

The increase in deaths related to traffic crashes isn't unique to our state, across the nation there has been a rise in deaths. The National Safety Council states that the increase in traffic deaths may be a result of an improving economy and lower gas prices. These two factors have increased the amount of travel being done by each vehicle and increases the likelihood of accidents.
